Note: the latest version of this mod requires a very recent GregTech CE: Unofficial which in turn requires CodeChickenLib. It also requires MixinBootstrap or MixinBooter.
GregTech Food Option is an addon to GTCEu that allows you to waste your time making stupidly expensive foods that provides an extra challenge to the normal GTCEu experience, by adding several long chains of realistic recipes in order to acquire food.

By this point, your eyes have likely tuned out the word "realistic" when it comes to mods, so let me give you an example.
Let's say you want to make popcorn.
So, to start, you have to assemble some popcorn into a paper bag.
Then, you have to cook that popcorn with popcorn kernels within an electric blast furnace with some popcorn flavouring.
To get the popcorn flavoring, you need a few things: salt, seed oil, β-carotene for the coloring, and then diacetyl, acetoin, and 2-acetylpyridine in order to add that buttery taste. (You may look those up, they are all used for popcorn in real life).
Then, how do you get, say, 2-acetylpyridine? You combine the Grignard reagent i-PrMgCl with 2-bromopyridine, tetrahydrofuran, and acetyl chloride in a ZPM Chemical Plant, of course! (That's also a real reaction.)
Along with all of these chains, there also exist several chains used in other mods, including:
-
Coffee from ActuallyAdditions
-
S'more S'mingots from NuclearCraft (along with a bit more👀)
(Planned) - Domino's Pizza from NuclearCraft
(Planned) - Enderios from EnderIO
You can also configure any of these things to your heart's desire, if you, for some reason, don't want to eat the Heart of the S'mogus. But why wouldn't you? :troll:
There are also several new multiblocks that you can use, such as the Electric Baking Oven. And that's not to mention the many singleblocks here, including the Slicing Machine, Cuisine Assembler, or the Microwave! (which you can still totally put iron ingots in btw) If you're looking to automate mob killing/sorting, you can do that here too, with two redstone-powered mob handling machines!
Finally, if you're playing with the mod AppleCore, vanilla food items will decrease in hunger and saturation as you advance through GregTech (by default) to convince you to make the switch to a new world of food.
Textures made by @mothmoss and @max is the spy on the GTCEu Discord, including a few sourced from GregTech 5u and 6.
Happy automating your eating!
